HOLY ROASARY CRUSADE

Archbishop Mindszenty spoke of his intention: "my desire: the kneeling and rosary of one million Catholic Hungarian families to the Virgin Mary, from here and beyond the borders."

"Let us now be a nation of prayer! If we learn again to pray as our ancestors prayed, we will have strength and confidence to draw from. I, too, trust in the prayer campaign of millions of Hungarians and in my mother's rosary, which is now even more tightly clasped." On Christmas 1946, he wrote in his encyclical: "A sea of flames of prayer, faith and atonement is needed throughout the whole Hungarian land. With these we shall overcome the blasphemy and desecration of Sunday; the dense web of blasphemy, Church-abuse, moral laxity, corruption, the serial transgression of all the Ten Commandments."

In the Cardinal's words, "it is our duty to take the initiative, to take the lead, not to lag behind!"
